Principal’s Welcome

“A New Year, a New Outlook”

As time passes by, 2023 has just arrived. This year is significant and special because countries around the world are gradually breaking free from the shadow of the COVID-19 pandemic. Our lives are gradually returning to normal, and we believe that the future is full of hope.

In the past three years, the pandemic has come in waves, greatly affecting students’ learning. However, adversity is a thing of the past. Last October, the Education Bureau announced that as long as 70% or more of students are vaccinated, schools could gradually resume full-time in-person classes starting from December 1, 2022. Students have more time to learn, more opportunities to interact with teachers and classmates, and enjoy a diverse campus life. In addition, on January 8th, Hong Kong and the Mainland have officially opened the border. Cross-border students could return to Hong Kong for classes from February 1st onwards in an orderly manner. They could enjoy in-person learning time again. There are indeed many cross-border students, and arrangements started from high school, followed by middle school, and then primary school students. It is expected that all cross-border students can return to Hong Kong for classes starting from February 15th of this year. What a great news!

This academic year, NTWJWA Leung Sing Tak Primary School has many notable innovative constructions and developments that can effectively help students with different abilities to grow. As we all know, learning is a continuous and lifelong process, and students’ initiative and self-motivation are the most important factors. To stimulate children’s motivation, inspire their thinking, and help learners construct knowledge, learn problem-solving skills, and apply what they have learned, are not easy tasks. Therefore, this academic year, the school has specially allocated resources to participate in the Quality School Improvement Project(QSIP) of the Chinese University of Hong Kong and hired academic experts in English and Mathematics to assist teachers in designing lively, effective, and interesting teaching activities, and share effective teaching experiences to enhance teachers’ teaching effectiveness, so that teachers can better cater to the diversity of learning. In addition, we have invited a team of experts from The Education University of Hong Kong to provide training for all teachers to strengthen teamwork and cooperation, making the school a learning-oriented organization that constantly pursues excellence and keeps up with the times.

STEAM education has been a key focus in primary and secondary education in recent years. Our school has received nearly 2 million in funding from the Quality Education Fund to build two specialized rooms, named “Science Exploration Room” located in the basement for students from Primary 1 to Primary 3, and “Innovation Technology Center” located on the third floor for students from Primary 4 to Primary 6. Both rooms were completed in early January 2023. Their unique features, elegant decoration, and advanced equipment are highly favored by students. Currently, the regular timetable of senior students has added “STEAM courses” to further enhance students’ information literacy and abilities. In addition, teachers of all subjects will incorporate technology elements into their classes, such as using VR and AR technology to increase students’ interest and involvement in learning. It allows students to feel like they are in different scenarios, hence breaking the limits of time and space, broadening their perspectives and enhance the joy learning.

The education trend of the 21st century is to focus on students, care for diversity, accept differences, and to provide more suitable learning opportunities for each student. The development of technology has made learning more interesting and better able to meet the unique needs of individuals! Our school will work towards these two aspects and provide Quality Education for ALL.
